Due to an ongoing lawsuit over a patent dispute with medical technology outfit Masimo, Apple has been ordered to pause U.S. sales for the Apple Watch Series 9 and Apple Watch Ultra 2. For now, you can still find them in stock at third-party retailers, but you can no longer purchase either model from Apple directly.
It's unclear if or when the Series 9 and Ultra 2 will officially be rereleased, but we've rounded up the best places to get your hands on one right now below. Due to an ongoing lawsuit over its blood oxygen sensing system, Apple has officially stopped selling the Series 9 in the United States. For the moment, you can still find this advanced smartwatch in stock at a handful of retailers like Amazon, Walmart and Best Buy, but due to availability issues, there aren't any discounts. If you're looking to purchase one, we'd recommend getting your order in soon, as there's no telling if or when it will be officially rereleased.
Like the Series 9, sales for the Apple Watch Ultra 2 have been paused in the United States, and there's no telling if or when it will be available again. Select retailers still have this advanced smartwatch in stock, and while deals are pretty slim, you can save a few bucks when you pick it up from Amazon. This may be your last chance to get one on sale (or at all), so we'd recommend placing your order sooner rather than later.
With sales currently paused for the Apple Watch Series 9, you may want to opt for the previous generation Series 8 instead. Supplies for this older model are pretty limited, but you can get the red color variant of the 45mm model for just $318 at Amazon, which saves you over $100 compared to the usual price.
Released back in 2022, the second-gen Apple Watch SE is the most recent Apple Watch that hasn't been affected by the lawsuit, which means it's still available from Apple and most retailers. It offers a slew of upgrades over the first generation, including the same processor as the Watch Series 8, crash detection and a few others, as well. It's already one of our favorite budget-friendly smartwatches, and right now you can pick it up for $50 off.
Apple may have paused sales for the Apple Watch Ultra 2, but the first-gen Ultra is still widely available and has a ton to offer. It features a 49mm titanium case, a sapphire flat front crystal display and an impressive 36-hour battery life. Right now, you can get select configurations for $150 off at Best Buy, which drops the price to $649. Be advised, the stock is starting to run dry.
